My registration has my registrant name(s) spelled incorrectly. How can I have this corrected?

Name and date of birth changes cannot be done online. You will need to register in person at your town or city hall if this trailer requires payment of an excise tax. If the trailer is non-excise taxable you can go to your local motor vehicle branch office to have the information corrected.

    What is the registration fee?

The registration fee is collected by the State of Maine. If you have any questions regarding your registration or the registration fee, please call the registration section at the Bureau of Motor Vehicles at 624-9000 ext. 52149 for assistance or email to: registrations@maine.gov.

Why do I have to pay an agent fee to register online?

The Maine.gov website and many of the online services available are operated by a third party working in partnership with the State of Maine. This is made possible though the Information Resource of Maine (InforME), which was created by the legislature in 1998 to be the state's eGovernment portal. The goal of this partnership is to offer Maine.gov users a more efficient way of conducting government business through online services. The total amount you pay through this online service includes funds to develop, maintain, and enhance this online service as well as the State's official web portal Maine.gov, and Maine.gov online services like this one. This online service is operated without any state government funding.
