1. How much is going to cost me to use the Motor Vehicle Title Replacement Service?
It will cost $46 to obtain a duplicate title through this service.
2. How long will it take to receive my title?
You should receive your title within 10 business days.
3. If more than one person is listed on the title, can I obtain a duplicate with only one persons information?
No, If there is more than one person on the title, everyone listed needs to provide information in order to obtain a duplicate.
4. My car is paid for, but I am getting an error message indicating there is a lien on my title. What should I do?
Call the title section at BMV at (207)624-9000 ext. 52138 or email the title section at titles.bmv@maine.gov
5. My name is on the title, but so is my Company's name. Can I order a duplicate title?
No. If a company is listed on the title, you cannot use this service.
6. Why can't I use this service if my vehicle is 1994 or older?
A vehicle is required to have a title in the State of Maine if it is a 1995 model year or newer.
7. What can I do if I can't remember the address that is currently on my title?
