Tests for Coliform Bacteria and E. Coli (pos/neg) Nitrate and Nitrite
This Basic Safety Test is recommended yearly for residential homes, as well as day care facilities. In August 2020, the Code of Maine Rules Chapter 257 was amended to add a mandatory $2 fee for a water test ordered for residential private drinking water wells. All funds collected as a result of this new fee will be deposited into the Private Well Safe Drinking Water Fund. Collection of the mandatory fee was delayed because of the COVID-19 pandemic, but the Health and Environmental Laboratory will begin collecting it effective immediately.
